Asa’s love and study of Acupuncture and Chinese medicine began in the 90’s while still in the military. His experience now spans 18 years. The use of painkillers in the USMC to mask pain, in order to maintain operational readiness, was the norm. He naturally gravitated towards traditional methodologies. Now, with many years of private and group practice under his belt, he continues to unlock the physical and mental skills that will give the greatest benefit to those that seek relief. His practices include local and distal acupuncture methods, tui na (chinese medical massage), cupping and gua sha, and E-stim. He is also an advocate for self-massage, chinese health exercises, and herbal medicine to be practiced between treatments in order to achieve the recovery goals. He has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, chiropractic offices and community acupuncture in Boise, Idaho. He has volunteered as a practitioner in an herbal clinic in New Yorks’s Chinatown and non-profit low-income and Geriatric clinics in Portland, Oregon. He worked at a pain management clinic in San Diego for two years while doing my first and second academic years in San Diego. Asa is eager to share his knowledge, skills and abilities as an acupuncturist to help patients on their journey of recovery. Asa’s favorite things include Tai Chi, travel, time with family. Random Interesting Fun fact: my twin brother and I rappelled 100 feet down into our 50th birthday party in Kanab, Utah.

Heather’s journey started long before she decided to study this medicine. After losing use of her arm due to repetitive motion injuries, it was acupuncture that helped her put the pieces back together again. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine in 2007.

Using a gentle yet highly effective style, her treatments incorporate a wide range of techniques chosen specifically for each individual. Her philosophy is that we are more than our symptoms. To find your point of relief, we must look at the whole picture. By stimulating the central nervous system, acupuncture can affect the body at a cellular level, thereby releasing chemicals to help reduce stress, assist in detoxification, and boost the body’s ability to function optimally.

Fun Fact: While in acupuncture college I was able to travel to China and study at a local hospital. The experience was both enriching and invaluable.
